Alexsey Has A Family

Please rejoice with us! God willing, we are going back for Alexsey!

Ever since we came home, I so wanted Alexsey to have a family commit to him. Just like many of you, I advocated for him hoping someone would say yes to this precious little boy! As the clock ticked on and Alexsey's time at his wonderful orphanage was coming to an end because his fourth birthday was fast approaching, I learned more about the orphanage institution that he would be going to because he is considered non-ambulatory (right now). I know I/we can't save the world, but to have looked into Alexsey's eyes, held his hand, felt his smile warm my heart...... the thought of him being left to fend for himself in a new place where children who were "otherwise healthy" before being transferred can all of a sudden die due to the poor conditions of this institution, there is just no way John and I can know what we know and not say yes.

It is as simple at that. Sure me not feeling that our family was quite complete played a factor, but the bigger factor was that Alexsey was running out of time, showing us that not everything is to be done on our timetable. Sure we would have probably waited a little longer before adding to our family again, but Alexsey doesn't have that time to waste. And in reality, none of these children have that time..........

Please join us at Smiling All The Way Back to follow our journey.

God has already encouraged us in many "little" ways, and I would love to share them with you in future posts.

Awesome news!

When people ask about Alexsey tell them he is the child you couldn't leave behind. It is as simple as that. I under that feeling. It is hard to explain though!

(I will add this adoption to my pray list!)

I have been praising God ever since I read your announcement on the RR group. I can't tell you what a huge answer to prayer this is. I wanted to adopt Aleksey myself, but Garth and I knew the timing wasn't right to keep him from the institution and to adopt our girl at the same time...their orphanages are very far apart, across the country.

I rejoice with you and John and your family and will be on the edge of my seat during your journey. And you can be sure I'll be praying. :-)

He is a very lucky little boy and extremely blessed now that you are going to take him into your family.
There are so many many children in our own/your own country that need homes too. Have you ever thought of adopting locally?
..
When all that stuff about the Romanian orphanages came out years ago..my heart ached to go there and help..adopt a child or two..but it wasn't to be. Sadly, I know it is because my hubby never would agree to that. So I really really believe you two are very special . God bless you

I had a hunch it might happen. Man I have prayed so much for this little guy and promised to donate. I've just been waiting for his name to get posted with the paypal link. Going to donate now. Oh man. I am so excited for your family! And aleksy. Ahhhh. You keep making me cry. I've cried tears of happiness at least four times this week. God is good. I couldn't get aleksy out of my head. I wish I was old enough to adopt.

Oh christine. You have made my week.

Wow, now that is some news. Thank the lord for wonderful people like you. Now this precious boy can have a REAL chance and life.

I'm sure he is going to fit in real well witht the rest.

Shouldn't you try to get a few more girls now so you don't get yourself outnumbered? LOL

Congratulations! This is so exciting! Hmmm ... makes me start to think - we have 7 bio children, and I've worked with kids with special needs before having any of my own - and have a special drawing to all kids. I've always assumed we would not be 'considered' for adoption, but .... hmmmm ... maybe we would be able to also take in one of these special children some day! I'll be so excited to follow along your newest 'adventure' here in blog-ville!

Yay! I have been praying for Alexsey to find the perfect family for him since the first time I saw his picture. His eyes just took my heart away. If my husband were on board and we could financially handle it, I would have been there in a heartbeat. I am so very happy for your entire family, and so happy that I might have the opportunity to watch him grow up through your blogs. Seriously, I have a lump in my throat. So happy. Good luck and Godspeed. Thank you and God Bless.

Mrs Reed,

My name is Amanda, I'm 17yrs old. I've been read your blog for several months now, and I just wanted you to know the hope you give me. I cried tears of joy for little Alexsey when I read this. How I wish I could hold his hands and tell him you're coming!

I can't wait to turn 18 and donate some of my own time and money to children overseas. I'm so fortunate in what I have, I want to use this position to help others who aren't so well off.

I just want you to know, I'll be thinking of you every step of the way.

All my love to you and your family,

Amanda

Congratulations! Really happy for your family and Alexsey too, of course.

My tagline when we adopted Katya was (joking, but true!) "what's one more, when we're already outnumbered." You just take my tag line a few steps further! (Is that what going the extra mile is all about? :))
